Dr. Mike was born and raised in the Fargo, North Dakota area. He
graduated in 1991 from Iowa State with a degree in veterinary
medicine. Since graduation, he has practiced medicine in various
locations across Illinois and Wisconsin. He is married to Dr. Denise
Fortier, DVM. They share their lives with two daughters, five horses,
three dogs, five cats, and a roost of chickens.
Amelia Fairchild, DVM
Dr. Fairchild originally comes from the San Francisco area in California.
Before pursuing a childhood dream of being a vet, she detoured through
the liberal arts with an undergraduate degree in literature and graduate
work at Penn State in philosophy. She graduated in 2007 from UW
Madison with a degree in veterinary medicine. After graduation she
completed a one-year internship at the Wisconsin Veterinary Referral
Center in Waukesha, then worked at Veterinary Specialty and
Emergency Care in Madison before joining Dr. Mike at Village Animal
Clinic. She lives with sheep, dogs, a cat, guinea fowl, and chickens.
Joanne Fitzgerald, Practice Manager
Jo joined the Village Animal Clinic staff in 1991 as a Veterinary
Assistant. She has recently taken on the position of Practice
Manager and is involved in most aspects of the clinic. She is a
familiar face and voice to our clients and has known patients
from puppy and kittenhood through their senior years.
She lives with her husband and their three dogs Ike, Boston and
Sarge, together with their four cats.
Bethany Darling, Certified Veterinary Technician
Bethany has worked at Village Animal Clinic since 2004. She is originally from Sauk
Prairie, where she worked with Dr. Boyle from 2001-2004. Bethany is a Certified
Veterinary Technician and graduated from the Veterinary Technician program at MATC.
Her current four-legged family of rescued animals includes three cats, Cleopatra, Ione,
and Star; a Pug named Stella; a Great Dane named Riley and a young Dane rescue
named Alex; two Chinchillas; two Gerbils; and a Tortoise named Bruce.
Pam Gillitzer, Certified Veterinary Technician
Pam is a Certified Veterinary Technician. She graduated from the Veterinary
Technician Program at MATC in 1988. She has worked for Village Animal Clinic
since 2007, and also works at UW-Veterinary Medical Teaching Hospital in the
Critical Care Unit. Her furry kids include Aussie "J.C.", kitties "Emily" and
"Pebbles", one feathered friend "Charlie", and one 15-year-old human child.
Pam's interests include dog training and behavior; she teaches puppy kindergarten
classes and shows J.C. in obedience.
Jaime Lazenby, Receptionist

Jaime started at Village Animal Clinic in August of 2008 as a
receptionist. Jaime also helps out in the back assisting the Doctors and
Technicians with patient care. She has two dogs, a 7 year old family
dog that is a Black Lab and Chow Chow mix named "George" and a 3
year old Yorkshire Terrier named "Oliver" which she received as a
graduation present from High School in 2006. Jaime currently attends
Edgewood College pursuing a Bachlors in Psychology with a minor in
Spanish. Very much a people person, she enjoys greeting all of the
pets and owners that come in to Village Animal Clinic and making the
experience as pleasant as possible.
Kelly Hinrichs, Receptionist/Vet Assistant
Kelly has worked as a Veterinary Assistant for over 13 years. She started
working at a veterinary clinic when she was 16 years old on a school work
program. She joined VAC in July 2009. She has two dogs, a 10 year old
border collie named "Willow" and a 3 year old german shepherd named
"Baxter". Kelly & Willow have competed in Agility and Flyball. Willow
earned her FDCh Flyball title before retiring in 2003. Kelly also has a 6 yr
old tabby cat named "Goose". Kelly is married and has two little girls that
keep her quite busy when she is not working.
Susie, Receptionist
Susie has been with Village Animal Clinic since July 2009. Prior to
joining VAC, Susie worked for the State for 30 years. She has a
daughter named Kayla, and they share their home with two Golden
Retrievers, “Vinnie” & “Guido”, one Black Lab “Annabelle”, seven
cats “Famous”, “Dinah”, “Hunter”, “Oliver”, “Dallas”, “Jenna” and
“Ozzy”.
We love our big family. Everyone gets along too!
Lindsay, Maintenance
Lindsay helps keep our facilities spotless and does MANY loads of hospital
laundry. Many thanks, Lindsay!
Tigger, Public Relations
Tigger was born into veterinary medicine when he and his siblings (and Mom)
took up residence in Dr. Hans' barn. As a young kitten he came to the clinic to
be neutered, and a broken leg was found. He stayed on to mend his leg and has
been a resident ever since. His motto is, "Will greet for treats!"
Denise Fortier, DVM
Denise obtained her DVM from UW Madison School of
Veterinary Medicine in 2006. She is Wisconsin born and
raised, hailing from the Racine area. She is currently
taking time away from the Clinic to concentrate on her
young children, three dogs, horses, numerous cats and
chickens.
